Notebook Provider for TEC Program
Mac1 has been chosen as the supplier for the notebook computers for students commencing the TEC Program at Holy Cross from 2007 onwards.
Mac1 was established as an Apple Associate Reseller in 1991 servicing the printing and
publishing industry of Canberra and the ACT region. Based on the success of this vertical
market Apple appointed Mac1 as an Apple Specialist Reseller in 1992, and with continued
sales successes, a full line reseller in 1994.
Mac1 has a very strong history of supporting education activities in Australia. These include the
ITSA conference, Illawarra Schools Technology Day and Kids Congresses in QLD, NSW and
ACT.
In recognition of their expertise in the education market, Mac1 has been awarded the Apple
Australia title of “National Reseller of the Year 2006”.
TEC Notebook Computer
The Apple MacBook has been selected as the notebook computer for the TEC Program. The Holy Cross package supplied by Mac1 will include the following:
- Apple MacBook Notebook Computer
- Laptop Bag
- 3 Years Warranty
- 3 Years Insurance
- macCARE Service Level Agreement
Software
Through the College's licensing agreement with Computelec and Microsoft, we are able to offer TEC students a significantly discounted purchase price for Microsoft Office Mac and Microsoft Windows XP Professional. Through this new agreement, students will be owners of the licenses for these software products from Microsoft and will not be required to remove this software when they exit the TEC Program. An order form and license agreements will be distributed by the College during Term 1 prior to the Laptop Distribution Night.
Payment Options
Software is provided by the College during the period the student is enrolled in the TEC program. This entitles students to use the College software which includes Ultra Key Typing Tutor, eTrust Anti-Virus, ProDesktop, Paint Shop Pro and the pre-loading of students' electronic text book CDs. A software agreement form needs to be signed by a parent.

The cost of purchasing the machine will vary from year to year, ranging from $2,500 to $3,000. Ordering information will be sent directly by Mac1 at the start of the school year to parents that have enrolled their son in the TEC program. |

The cost of leasing the machine will vary from year to year, ranging from $20 to $30 per week over 3 years. Ordering information will be sent directly by Mac1 at the start of the school year to parents that have enrolled their son in the TEC program. |
The cost of purchasing the notebook computer is independent of the standard school fees and TEC fees.
Ordering Procedures
Mac1 will contact parents during the first few weeks of Term 1 to arrange for the ordering of the notebook computer. Orders must be finalised by the cut-off date in order to ensure that a notebook computer is available on the Laptop Distribution Night.
Laptop Distribution
Notebooks will be distributed to parents and students on the Laptop Distribution Night. Please check the College Calendar to see the date of this year's Laptop Distribution Night.
