Curriculum: A Catholic Perspective

At Holy Cross, the person of Jesus Christ and his teachings are at the core of all learning experiences offered by the College. All courses are designed to recognise and incorporate Gospel values into their teaching programs.

A comprehensive Religious Education program occurs in each year in which all students are expected to participate. The program has two strands:

  1. A formal program of classroom instruction for each year based on ’The Faithful to God: Faithful to People’ document developed by the Catholic Education Office in the Archdiocese of Sydney.
  2. Prayer, liturgies, retreats and reflection days designed to supplement formal instruction in the classroom. Each year group has the opportunity to participate in a variety of these activities that have been selected on the basis of appropriateness for the age and spiritual development of the students.

The overall outcome is to provide opportunities for faith development and a deeper understanding of our Catholic tradition.
