Building Project
Master Plan
A master plan of the site has been under development since 2003. The first stage of this plan is the construction of a new TAS (Technology and Applied Studies) Building. Work commenced in June 2007, and if all goes according to plan, construction should be completed by the start of the 2008 school year. The building will contain new workshops, computer and design rooms, construction areas, facilities that will allow us to offer hospitality as a subject option, a lift for disabled access and covered walkways at both the first and second story levels connecting to other buildings. Once it has been finished, we will be able to refurbish the existing spaces vacated for other uses. In the near future construction will commence on a new maintenance area and monastery for the Brothers (this will be funded by the Patrician Brothers alone and not the College). The main administration building will then be refurbished to upgrade all existing administration facilities and create much needed new areas like a sick bay, public and student foyers and interview rooms.
Please note the different uses of buildings shown on the master plan are only tentative and no final decisions have been made. Some of the other changes shown, like the new library and staff facilities, have been included for long term planning but will not be considered in the immediate future because of financial constraints. However it is good to have a plan in place to guide future development over the years ahead. The definite changes shown are the TAS building, the Brothers’ monastery, the new maintenance area, the demolition of the existing gym, the development of a civic court behind the Administration building and refurbishment of existing buildings.
These exciting changes come at a considerable financial cost. The College has received generous financial support from the Catholic Education Office, but parents will also have to support the re-development of the College financially by contributing more to the building levy and being more active in raising additional voluntary funds. There will I hope, be many benefits flowing from these changes that will improve the quality of education the College offers to our students.
