The TEC Program

The Technology Enabled Class (TEC) is an optional program which commenced in 1994 with one experimental Year 7 class. In 1995 it expanded to Years 7 and 8. By 1997 it had grown to five classes in Years 7, 8 and 9. Its popularity continues to grow as research indicates high levels of approval and success.

The program enables students to engage in learning experiences which increase their technological capabilities. At the same time, the normal curriculum requirements for Years 7, 8, 9, and 10 are met. The basic features of this program are:

  • each student is supplied with the most up-to-date and affordable Apple education laptop for their sole use at home and school
  • student participation in construction activities working with a variety of technologies including robotics,
electronics, satellite learning, and CD- ROM library research
  • a consideration of the role of technology in society including social, political, economic and moral aspects
  • students have access to related technologies such as scanning, digital imaging, and data projection
  • entry to TEC classes is selective and is based on test results.

Additional information and application forms are available from the College. Also, if you would like to speak to someone, just telephone the College on 9808 1033 and ask for the TEC Co-ordinator.
